Ips Officer Under Extortion Charges
In a recent turn of events, the Maharashtra police was forced to hide its face in shame as one of its IPS officers was slapped with extortion charges. The Mumbai City correspondents found out that the case was lodged against the errant IPS office r and five other accomplices in the state police department. The Mumbai Local News confirmed that the IPS officer was charged with a case of extortion, where he tried to make a quick buck out of a businessman in the construction business. The Mumbai Local News suggested that the officer was associated with the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority in Mhada. The case against the officer was lodged on 28 February after the court passed the ordered on 23 February. The complainant is Mr. Firoz khan, who first came in contact with Jawahar Singh (the accused), when he tried to tip off the department against some of his business rivals, who had resorted to illegal practices. At first Jawahar tried to force the businessman to take back his case, but when he refuse to budge off, he was implicated in false cases. According to the Mumbai City Local News, it seems that the IPS officer tried to make the complainant suffer by accusing him o f fabricated crimes. Mumbai City officials are of the opinion that the case will follow its own course and justice will prevail. When asked for the reason, the accused said that it was he, who was being framed in a false case for being an honest police officer. Guilty or not, it is very clear that the Mumbai City policy is spring-cleaning its departments for corrupt officials. The case of wrongful confinement, extortion and conspiracy is yet to be contested in court and Special Inspector General Jawahar Singh had better be ready with his best excuse.
